Also known as Jorge Chávez International Airport, LIM is Peru’s main international and domestic transit hub. While a few of the car rental companies are located in the main terminal building, many are located across the street in the Centro Aereo Comercial, a mall attached to the airport complex.

To select the best car rental companies at Lima Airport, TravelMag.com review prices, fleet options and customer feedback. Then we ranked the companies according to three categories: most affordable, best for families and best luxury option. Here’s what we found.

MOST AFFORDABLE: THRIFTY

If you’re in the market for cheap car rentals at Lima International Airport, Thrifty lives up to its name. With many affordable economy cars like the Kia Picanto and Toyota Yaris and Corolla, Thrifty is a great option for a bare-bones, Point A-to-B car at an excellent price. Their kiosk is located in the Centro Aereo Commercial (or the Peru Plaza Shopping Center, in English) just across the street from the main terminal building. Thrifty’s pickup location is off-site, but they provide a shuttle to your vehicle. Alamo and Budget’s lowest rates were very close to Thrifty’s, although they offer a slightly more limited selection of economy vehicles.

BEST FOR FAMILIES: ALAMO

With lots of full-sized SUVs and sedans in its fleet and plenty of positive customer feedback, Alamo is a family’s best bet for a great car rental out of Lima International Airport. The highest-ranked car rental company at LIM, Alamo receives high marks for the helpfulness of the staff, the upkeep of the vehicles and the ease of pickup and dropoff. Alamo’s fleet has something for every family at a good price, but if you’re traveling with a very large group, you should head to Budget, Zugig or Nucarrentals. These companies are the only ones at LIM that have 7-, 8- and 12-seater vehicles like the Suzuki APV and Hyundai H1.

BEST LUXURY OPTION: HERTZ

Travelers looking for luxury rental cars at Lima International Airport might be a little disappointed by the lack of Mercedes and BMVs on offer. Of the companies we surveyed, however, Hertz has the best selection of premium vehicles. Hertz offers luxury sedans like the Kia Optima and Hyundai Sonata, and high-end SUVs like the Hyundai Tucson and Santa Fe. Plus, Hertz’s base rate includes the collision damage waiver and theft protection.
