Paphos Airport Car Hire: The Best Companies

by Paul Joseph  |  Published June 12, 2017

Paphos Airport has four car hire companies serving visitors to this scenic city on the southwest coast of the Mediterranean island of Cyprus. With public transport fairly limited here, a cheap car hire in Paphos is the logical choice for those keen to explore the island during their stay. Whether you want to visit one of its sun-kissed beaches, historical sites of interest, or pretty tavernas serving traditional Cypriot cuisine, having a car will help get you there quickly and comfortably.

Airport car hire at Paphos Airport is pretty simple, with only four companies to choose from and all of them located inside the main airport terminal for optimum convenience. Together, Europcar, Budget, Sixt and Astra offer a large choice of cars at a range of price levels. If you’ve booked ahead, all you’ll need when you arrive is driver’s licence, a credit or debit card and a single form of ID.

To help you make your choice, TravelMag.com have looked into the four car hire companies at Paphos Airport and come up with the best options for you based on three separate categories: Best value, Best for families and Best for luxury cars. To reach our verdict, we’ve taken into account pricing, customer reviews, choice of cars and company policies. You’ll find the results below.

Best value: Budget

After performing a number of searches across varying dates and lengths of stay, it was clear that Budget offer the best value car hire at Paphos Airport. Customer reviews are pretty solid too, but it is the sheer range of cars that puts Budget on a pedestal, with everything from small and nippy Nissan Micras to Hyundais and Ford Focuses for those seeking some extra space. As for pricing, a week’s stay came in at an average of around £130 with Budget, cheaper than any other company.

Best for families: Europcar

Based on our research, Europecar are the go-to guys for families wanting a hire car in Paphos. Their larger car range include a Kia, a Ford Focus and – for something more high-end – a Mercedes. They also provide a good choice of kids and babies seats to rent too. Opening hours are 6am to 9pm, so if your flight is due in late that may be a problem, but for choice, pricing and customer reviews, we definitely advise you go with Europcar. And for the eco-friendly among you, they are the first car hire company at Paphos Airport with certified commitments to a sustainable development program.

Best for luxury cars: Sixt

If you’re worried about opening hours, fret no more – Sixt’s desk is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, meaning whatever time you get to the airport you’ll be able to pick up your car. The company’s fleet is also seriously impressive, with a number of luxurious sports cars and convertibles available, including the acclaimed Audi A6. You will of course need to pay a premium for such a car, but once you’re speeding along the open roads of Paphos it’s likely to feel well worth the money. Additionally, it’s worth noting that Sixt also offer additional insurance and mileage packages
