WHERE TO BOOK SHORT STAY SERVICED APARTMENTS IN EDINBURGH

by Mark Rebindaine  |  Published April 3, 2018

Serviced apartments are ideal for people looking for short or long-term stays. Equipped with a living room and a kitchen, they are spacious enough to allow guests to cook, eat and entertain without for-saking the principal benefits of a concierge service.

Spread over a series of hills with large parks and magnificent views over the river Forth, Scotland’s capital is a beautiful city. In its centre, lies the dramatic Edinburg castle and the surrounding Old Town where each year thousands come for the Fringe Festival. Many visitors look for short-term and long-term rentals in this area, especially around the Royal Mile – the main thoroughfare of the Old Town. Leith is another popular spot. This former industrial dock has a unique, maritime charm and a buzzing gastronomic scene.

Having compared all the main booking websites for short-let apartments, these are our top choices.

Booking.com

Book at Booking.com

Booking.com has scores of serviced apartments on their books located throughout Edinburgh. For example, close to Holyrood Park, you can find short-term accommodation from £110 per night in the stylish Richmond Place Apartments. After clicking on Apartments, look for the word ‘Apartho-tel’ next to the establishment’s name. The cheapest rates are non-refundable so you need to be 100% sure of your trip. Alternatively, you pay about 10% more for the privilege of a full refund. Guests can only comment on their stay once they’ve a reserved so in theory, all feedback is authentic and in keeping with an honest approach, prices include taxes.
Originating in Manchester, laterooms.com is a hotel reservation website specialising in -as the name suggests- last minute, discounted reservations. Its design may not exactly win any awards, but it’s easy to use with each property having a detailed description, multiple photos and a map pinpointing the property’s location. In Edinburgh they have a huge selection of apart-hotels on their books, with 39 available on our last count. Discounted prices start at around £100 per night. The website pro-vides completely trustworthy feedback as only guests who have already their stay, are entitled to comment.

Citybaseapartments.com

Compared to leading sites like booking.com and hotels.com, Citybase Apartments is in a different category, but it’s the only website fully dedicated to serviced apartments. Providing properties for short and long-stay accommodation, they have 26 serviced apartments with rates kicking off at around £85 a night in the Knights Residence. Users comments are universally complimentary about the customer service and the value of money found on the site.
