For anyone searching for short term weekly rentals or monthly rentals, short stay apartments deliver all of the same perks of a long lease but at substantially more affordable cost. Usually situated in cities, the apartments typically come furnished and with ‘home from home’ facilities such as kitchens and living areas. With Airbnb dominating the short term market online, it can be tricky to find alternatives, but we’ve dug deep and picked a few other companies providing short-term furnished rentals in Chicago that we’d happily recommend.

Booking.com

Booking.com are our preferred choice for finding a furnished short stay apartment in Chicago for anything from just a few days up to a few weeks. The travel search engine is one of the largest aggregator websites for lodgings across the globe, and although it is primarily used for hotel bookings, it also offers a sizeable selection of apartments. When we searched for short stay options in Chicago, around 100 apartments were available, starting at approximately $150 per night. Booking.com also offer a Best Price Guarantee as well as a reviews section where previous guests leave comments on their stay.

Created in 2013, Blueground provide fully-furnished apartments and studios with flexible leases for stays of 30 days or more. Their professionally-managed, turnkey properties include everything from studios to one and two-bed apartments. Stays of more than a month can produce substantial savings, since the longer your booking, the cheaper the nightly rate. During our online search for Chicago apartments, we found rates starting from $1,550 per month for a studio. Overall the company lists a huge choice of over 250 available apartments in Chicago, dotted in and around some of the city’s most desirable neighbourhoods, with most clustered around its central district. Booking is simple and intuitive, and there’s also a 24-hour support service accessed via a guest app. You can also save on your total by paying upfront.
