Umbria, the green heart of Italy

Umbria, the “green heart” of Italy, is often overlooked in favour of neighbouring Tuscany. Italians (and especially Romans), on the other hand, are more clued-in and regard the region as a pristine wilderness bolthole, at its best during long hikes through verdant hills. Highlights include Assisi, Perugia, and Norcia.
