Life takes place at a leisurely pace in the South West. But take care not to confuse leisurely with boring. Home to Glastonbury festival, arguably the best surfing in Britain and Somerset cider, more than anything people in the South West know all about good living. Local food and alcohol are among the best regional offerings in the country. The main industries of the region are agriculture and tourism, and with more coastline than any other region of England, it is no surprise that some of best beaches in England can be found here. Important historical sites in the area include Bath Spa and Stonehenge. Dartmoor and Exmoor are two National Parks protecting sparse, unique landscapes when you want a change from the beaches and quaint fishing villages. The gentle Cotswolds have some of the most picturesque villages in the country.
