by Davina van Buren  |  Published January 4, 2021

Located on the north shore of Kauai, Princeville is the northernmost settlement in Hawaii. Known for its dramatic cliffside views overlooking the Pacific Ocean, the 9,00-acre community is composed of a mix of private homes, condos and resorts. Visitors and residents alike come to Princeville for the spectacular scenery and wide variety of outdoor activities including hiking, ziplining, horseback riding, kayaking, snorkeling and water skiing.

Condominiums are a popular option for Princeville vacation rentals, and you’ll find plenty to choose from. Choose a seaside retreat or, if you’re looking for some retail therapy, an abode closer to the art galleries, cafes and boutiques near Princeville Shopping Center. Many Princeville rentals have outdoor terraces with views of the surrounding landscape.

We compared several popular travel sites that book condominiums near Princeville based on the number of condos available, customer service, pricing and other criteria. Here, we present our top three choices.

VRBO is our preferred option for renting condominiums in Princeville.
Using the filter feature, select “Apartment or Condo” in the Property Type category, then further refine your search by amenities, location and more. Some reservation requests take up to 24 hours to be confirmed by the owner; however an increasing number of properties are available via instant confirmation. Cancellation deadlines vary.

We found more than 20 vacation properties available for rent in Princeville, with surprisingly affordable rates—typically ranging from $150–300 USD per night. We also found properties with upgraded amenities: for instance, a 3-bedroom condo that sleeps eight with a 2-car garage, swimming pool, bonus den and hot tub for under $400 per night. We also found that VRBO’s cleaning and service fees cost less in Princeville than in other areas of the country.

Booking.com is known for affordable hotel lodging, but the site also has an increasing number of condos and other private rentals available. Activate the “Vacation Homes” filter to exclude hotels and only see condominiums and other vacation rentals. This site has fewer listings than our top pick, however, there are still a few deals to be found. When condos were listed on both VRBO and Booking.com, we found rates on average are slightly more affordable at this site. We also appreciate their upfront pricing, instant confirmation and flexible cancellation policy.

This locally-owned vacation rental agency has plenty of Princeville condos for rent. Their easy-to-navigate website is also chock full of helpful information, which is especially useful for out-of-state visitors. You can search rentals by name, features, or location and each listing has a robust photo library, reviews and more information about the property such as its location and amenities. We especially liked the “Availability” option, which lets you see all dates that are currently available, and the “Today’s Deals” section which has rotating specials. Many listings also have 3D virtual tours so you can “see” the property before you book.
