Since the 1960s, French designer label Dior has been serving up ready-to-wear sunglasses that are instantly recognizable from their shape alone. Eyecatching and elegant in equal measures, they’re a go-to brand for women looking for classy and cool sunglasses.

Renowned for its originality, charm and elegance, Dior is leading the race in designer eyewear. In fact, the haute couture brand generates around $223 million from eyewear across all distribution channels per year, which is nearly $100 million more than their main competitor, Chanel. The brand has produced sunglasses since 1969 when it first partnered with the German brand Optyl International. Made from lightweight thermo-hardening plastic, together they transformed luxury sunglasses into an everyday accessory. Today, there are hundreds of styles and shapes to choose from, from geometric frames to barely-there lenses. Here’s our selection of cool Dior sunglasses for women based on style, materials and value.

SoStelair1

These oversized square-shaped SoStellaire1 sunglasses are a standout pair of shades. The rounded black acetate frame contrasts the burgundy-to-blue shaded lenses, while the gold finish metal insert on the temples adds a touch of sophistication. You’ll find the CD signature on the hinge in gold finish metal too. The sunnies are also available in translucent pink frames with brown-to-coral lenses, ivory frames with brown-to-coral lenses or a rose gold finish.  They boast 100% UVA/UVB protection too. From $365.

The SignatureS1U range is part of Dior’s iconic new line this season, boasting a modern and elegant oversized design. The signature square frame is available in black or tortoiseshell-effect acetate, while the lenses stand out in blue, grey or black. Tilt your head to the side and you’ll see the words CHRISTIAN DIOR PARIS emblazoned across the temples in a gold-finish metal, lest you forget who made them – or how much you paid for them. From $500.

SoReal

The So Real range launched in 2014 and took Instagram by storm. People couldn’t get enough of the millimetres-thick lenses, almost-aviator shaped frames and totally absent nose bridge. Dior has named the unusual lense shape Pantos, from the term pantascopic which means ‘everything’. Back in the 1950s, this was usually applied to glasses with lenses divided into two sections – the upper portion for distant objects and the lower portion for objects closer to the eye. These glasses are ultra-feminine with transparent angular trips and contrasting arms, and the mirrored lenses give a contemporary feel too. From $500.

For a sporty look, the DiorClub M1U range is undeniably cool – if a little divisive. They’re popular with celebs too; everyone from Rihana to Selena Gomez has been spotted sporting a pair. The rectangular-shaped mask features pink mirrored lenses, with large spoilers and a light beige matte acetate frame. You could also opt for them in black or in a rather garish Dior Oblique motif. From $600.

30 Montaigne Mini

For something a little more understated, there’s the 30 Montaigne Mini Bl sunglasses. The elegant butterfly-shaped black acetate frame features grey shaded lenses with 100% UVA/UVB protection. Unlike most Dior glasses, these come in at a relatively compact 56 millimetres. Each pair features a charming emblematic ‘CD’ hinge too, for an extra luxury touch. These are available in sleek black only. The range is a reference to the brand’s iconic address,  and part of a wider collection of couture bags. From $450.

The UltraDior SU Nude is both big and barely there. The nude lenses are stylish and refreshing – though you won’t get away with staring at anyone – while the ultra-modern laser-engraved frameless lines are unfussy and feminine. There’s the signature Christian Dior signature at the temples, plus 100% UVA and UVB protection too. If nude is a stretch too far for you, the glasses are also available in blue and brown-to-pink. From $470.

Sideral 1 Cat Eye sunglasses

These frames are more understated than most of Dior’s offering, making them perfect for faces with softer features. The frames combine a classic cat-eye silhouette with striking details, like the gold CD log at the temples. The tinted lenses are available in pale grey or blue, while the frames are available in a subtle tortoise-shell, black or blush pink. From $400.
