If you’re landing in Langkawi International Airport (LGK) and need a rental car, you have four companies to choose from: Europcar, Kasina, Keddy and Mayflower.
Langkawi, an island off the northwest coast of Malaysia, is a nature lover’s dream. The main island is a protected UNESCO World Geopark thanks to its biodiverse rainforest, while more than 100 smaller islands make up the archipelago. Driving is a great way to explore undiscovered areas of this pristine jungle island. It’s important to remember before you rent that, thanks to the legacy of British colonial rule, Malaysians drive on the left-hand side of the road.

To pick the best car rental companies at LGK, TravelMag.com researched rates, fleet availability and customer feedback and ranked the best according to three categories: most affordable, best for families and best for luxury. Here’s what we found.
Europcar was the best place for cheap car rentals at Langkawi International Airport. Unfortunately, there is no Europcar kiosk at the airport, so you’ll have to find the representative waiting for you in the arrival area. Renters like Europcar’s pickup and dropoff times, the courteousness and efficiency of its staff and the overall value of its vehicles.
With an affordable fleet of sedans, SUVs and minivans, Kasina was the clear choice for families at Langkawi International Airport. Kasina includes up to two child seats in its base price. And, unlike some other car rental companies at LGK, Kasina’s kiosk is in the main arrivals area and is easy to find so you won’t have to track down a representative with kids in tow.
The choices of luxury rental cars are somewhat limited on the remote Langkawi Island, but renters landing at LGK looking for a high-end vehicle should head to Mayflower. With a fleet of luxury sedans like the Renault Fluence, Nissan Sylphy and Teana, Mayflower has the vehicles for a trip around Langkawi’s beautiful coast in style. Like many car rental companies at Langkawi Airport, Mayflower has no on-site kiosk, but there will be a representative waiting for you in the arrivals area with your reservation.
