Cheap Long Term Parking at Oakland Airport – Where to book?

Situated around 10 miles south of Downtown Oakland and 20 miles east of San Francisco on the other side of the San Francisco Bay, Oakland International Airport is California’s fourth largest airport, with more than 11 million passengers passing through its gates every year. Typical driving time from San Fran to the airport is around 35 minutes, though if you’re travelling in the morning beware of commuter traffic. Some international airlines ask passengers to be at the airport up to three hours ahead of their flight, so checking your airline’s policy in advance is recommended.

As one of the state’s busiest airports, parking is in high demand, Luckily the airport caters pretty well for travellers needing long term parking, with both on and off-site options available – often at affordable rates. If you’re in need of cheap parking in or around Oakland, check out our list below of the three best online resources currently available.
Established 18 years ago, Airport Parking Reservations make the bold claim of being able to save travellers vast amounts on standard parking rates. The company doesn’t actually own any parking lots itself, but has instead developed a wide network of partnerships with off-site parking facilities close to airports across the US, presenting the best rates available at each one based on your requirements, much like a price comparison website. When we searched for Oakland, we found several options, with airport parking rates as cheap as $7.95 per day for a week’s parking at a facility 1.6 miles away – that’s half the price you’ll pay for official parking. You can search for covered or uncovered parking, and a free shuttle service to the airport is typically included too. Another plus point is that the company doesn’t charge for cancellations either.
Official airport parking may be the priciest option, but for sheer convenience and peace of mind there’s little to compare. At Oakland Airport, travellers can make use of the newly expanded Premier Lot or the relocated Economy Lot, with more than 7,000 parking spaces available across the two, most of which are within walking distance of the terminals (free shuttle services are often available for facilities that aren’t walkable). Long term parking rates range from $18 per day for basic parking services through to $38 per day which includes access to premier security lanes at terminal security checkpoint, plus a free newspaper and mineral water. Travellers who qualify for the airport’s Frequent Parker Program can also benefit from free parking.
If you’re flying out early or arriving late, a hotel airport can be an essential – but costly – requirement. Park Sleep Fly helps to reduce those costs by offering deals that combine airport parking with hotel stays for the night before or after you travel. These deals can often deliver serious savings compared with booking your hotel and parking separately – and if the parking lot is a little out of the way they usually include free shuttle services to the terminal too. When we searched for deals for Oakland Airport in August, we found a choice of four options. Among them was an overnight stay at the Econo Lodge Inn & Suites, located a mile away from the airport, which when bundled with a week’s parking would cost you just $150 – that’s a $18 saving on booking them individually. The next cheapest deal was $175 for a one-night stay at Days Hotel, 1.5 mile away, plus parking – a saving of $12. As an added bonus, all four offers come with a free cancellation policy too.
