Ocean City, Maryland garnered its first tourists due to the revolutionary idea of Issac Coffin. In 1869, Issac built the first beachfront cottage to receive paying guests. Some visitors came to fish off the shore, while others found that gazing upon the rhythmic dances of the Atlantic Ocean waves brought peace, tranquility, and the beauty of nature’s stillness. Not long after, other boarding houses and inns like the Atlantic Hotel were developed along the strip, bringing the first indoor recreational activities to the area in 1875.

Today, Ocean City has an abundance of activities to enjoy including, water sports, shopping, nature activities, recreational sports, family fun nights, and the arts. The Ocean City Dog Playground at 94th Street provides access to all guests of the city (after completion of application and fees). Little Salisbury Park, just 15 minutes from the boardwalk, welcomes your furry friend at no cost. Fido is also allowed on the beach or boardwalk at any time from October 1 to April 30. After a full day of fun, end the night at one of the seaside hotels where you will gently drift off to sleep, listening to the soothing sounds of the ocean. These hotels were selected based upon pet-friendly accommodations, comfort, and customer reviews.
