by Paul Joseph  |  Published September 12, 2017

Pisa International Airport, also named Galileo Galilei Airport, has a total of 10 car hire companies serving visitors to this iconic city in Italy. Whatever your reason for visiting, be it business or leisure, TravelMag.com has dug deep and found the three best car hire companies based on three distinct categories: Best value, Best for families and Best for luxury cars.

All 10 of the airport’s car hire desks are located 500 metres from the airport terminal, which can be easily reached on foot in around 5 minutes, or via the free-of-charge shuttle bus, which may be preferable for families with small children. The shuttle bus stop is located just outside the Passenger Terminal Arrivals Area.

Our car rental company search results

TravelMag.com have looked into rates, selection of cars, customer reviews and company policies of all 10 car rental companies at Malaga Airport to ascertain the best three options. The results of our findings are below.

Best value: inter rent

Book at RentalCars.com

Based on our research of several dates and lengths of stay, we found that inter rent offer the best value at Pisa Airport when it comes to cheap car hire. Almost all of our searches found at least 5 cars available, with week-long hires coming in at less than £160 and some as cheap as £110. Customer reviews were also above average, although if you want a better guarantee of quality service, you may prefer to go with a company such as Maggiore. One other downside is that inter rent’s desk is only open until 10pm, whereas some competitors are open to midnight. For sheer value, however, inter rent is the company we’d most strongly recommend.

Best for families: Sicily By Car

Sicily By Car offer an excellent range of larger cars to rent at Malaga Airport, making it the best rental company for families needing extra space for kids’ seats, buggies and extra luggage. Among the cars they offer are the Nissan Quashi, a small SUV with very good boot space, although this obviously doesn’t come cheap. However, there are plenty of more affordable options that are suitable for families, including the Peugeot 5008 and the Citreon C4 Picasso, neither of which will break the bank.

Best for luxury cars: Europcar

Book at RentalCars.com

Fancy driving through Pisa in a Merc? Or how about a Beemer? Both options are available to you with Europcar who offer the best selection for luxury car hire of all the rental companies we researched at Pisa International Airport. Rates are obviously pretty high, but if you’re willing to push the boat out on what you pay, then you’re sure to be rewarded with a fun and exciting driving experience. Just don’t whizz past the Leaning Tower of Pisa too quickly – it might give way!
