This family-friendly mountain resort is a popular weekend getaway. More urban than Aspen, Vail and Breckenridge, there are hundreds of vacation rentals to choose from too.

A short and scenic drive from Denver, Keystone is one of Colorado’s most popular ski resorts. Between its three peaks – Dercum Mountain, North Peak and the Outback – there are more than 3,000 acres of skiable terrain, from gentle groomers to powder-filled bowls. And, as well as superb skiing, this mountain playground offers a whole roster of award-winning restaurants and brilliant lodges. Little wonder why it’s so popular then. If you’re finding it tricky to find the perfect vacation retinal in Keystone, we’ve rounded up three of our favourite platforms for finding properties. We’ve selected these based on value for money, customer reviews, ease of use, cancellation policies and range of properties.

VRBO

Peer-to-peer platform VRBO offers a staggering range of vacation rentals in Keystone, with at least 300 to choose from. These range from a cheap and cheerful ski-in condo to a palatial lodge with indoor and outdoor pools, hot tubs and saunas. Prices vary wildly too, making it a good option for visitors travelling on any budget. Ultra-specific filters make it easy to whittle down your search, with tags for hot tubs, ski-in ski-out facilities and nearby activities. Most, but not all, properties feature a star rating out of five and succinct write-ups from previous guests.

Plumguide

For those looking for a luxurious retreat, Plum Guide is your best bet. Unlike most accommodation platforms, properties need to undergo a meticulous multi-stage vetting process to be nominated and then listed on the website. This quality mark ensures no below-par properties make it onto the portal, so you can book with total confidence. There are currently only 20(ish) properties available in Keystone and all of these can accommodate at least four guests, with many sleeping up to 10. The website is easy to navigate, with handy filters for the number of guests, amenities, facilities and location. Cancellation policies are generous too.

Booking.com

This popular platform offers a good range of affordably priced vacation rentals, making it the best option for those looking to push their budget as far as possible. If you’re looking to stay at an independent property you’ll need to filter the results by “apartment”, as the website includes hotels and guesthouses in listings too. Filters are bespoke to the destination too, so travellers can refine the results by “distance from ski lift” and neighbourhood. Reviews are comprehensive, ranked out of ten for service, facilities, value for money, cleanliness, comfort and location. Travellers can also filter by guest type to ensure the rental best suits their needs.
