Despite its relatively modest size, Bend is Central Oregon’s largest city. A former logging town, it is now identified with outdoor activities like fishing, hiking, biking, golf, rock climbing, white-water rafting, and even paragliding. In 2015, Bend was ranked one of The 10 Best Places to Live Now by Men’s Journal. Seventeen miles north of Bend lies Redmond, one the US’s fastest growing towns. As the gateway to the same sporting activities as Bend, Redmond is a popular destination all year round with visitors flying to its local airport from as far away as Alaska and Los Angeles.

Downtown Bend: Hertz

There are few better destinations in the US for driving around than in central Oregon; to get the most out of your experience, you might be tempted to spend a little more on a rental car. The Hertz office, located close to the Pilot Butte State View Point, has a great selection of economy, medium and luxury cars with the comfortable and stylish Nissan Rogue being a good option at $90 per day. All in all, with positive customer feedback and a central location, this is as good a bet as any when choosing a rental car company. Opening hours: Monday to Friday 9am – 5pm; Saturday and Sundays closed.

North Bend: Budget

If you happen to be staying in this part of town or are looking to make a quick exit out north, then we’d recommend the Budget rental car branch located next to the Bend Park Freeway. Prices on economy and compact cars, like the Ford Fiesta and the Ford Focus, start off at $42 per day, ascending to $52 for a car like the Hyundai Elantra. This particular agency received high marks for vehicle cleanliness, speed of pick up and staff friendliness. Opening hours Monday – Friday 9am – 3pm; Saturday and Sunday closed.

Redmond Airport: Alamo

Out of the six rental cars operating out of Redmond Municipal Airport, we chose Alamo as the best option. Alamo’s choice of affordable cars included a Nissan Versa and Mitsubishi Mirage which were available for $45 per day. The company also scores well from past customer reviews with users remarking that Alamo’s customer service is as friendly as the locals themselves. With over 360 offices dotted around the US, Alamo’s loyalty program ‘Working Advantage’ offers multiple discounts on their services for regular users.
