Located on the Persian Gulf coast in the east of Qatar, Doha’s sparkling skyline includes a wide number of upscale hotels – many having been added in the build-up to the 2022 FIFA World Cup. And while some of them are not always of the 5-star standard that is seen in Europe, plenty of them do fit that billing. If you’re seeking a luxury Doha hotel, we’ve compared the best of them below, and ordered them by their distance from the city centre from nearest to furthest away.

Alwadi Hotel Doha – MGallery

The design is inspired by Qatar’s unique culture and heritage, seen in the intricate details of the window frames and lush decor finishes. Across three restaurants, chefs prepare dishes with a creative spin on traditional Arabian and modern European fare, and there are also two bars and a lobby lounge. Other notable amenities include an onsite spa, a fitness centre, and an infinity pool. Vibrant Souq Waqif and multiple museums, shops and monuments are an easy walk away.
