For those who enjoy city life, Lyon is one of France’s best places for expats, and is suitably well-equipped with accommodation options for extended stays.

Widely considered the culinary capital of France, the opportunity for Lyon visitors to pick up some local produce and turn it into something special is just one of many reasons why short-term apartment rentals – which, unlike hotels, almost always come with kitchen facilities – are a popular choice. But first and foremost, short-lets are a great way to experience living like a local – and if you’re staying for any length of time, they tend to be a lot cheaper than hotels, too. We’ve picked out three of the best online resources for finding a Lyon short-let.

Homelike

Another renowned property marketplace, Homelike offers an excellent choice of monthly furnished rentals in both private apartments and coliving spaces. They pledge to verify all of their hosts to ensure a safe and secure booking platform used by thousands of customers from around the world. On our chosen dates, we found 164 apartments available in Lyon, with prices starting at €952 per month for a studio property in the district of Rockefeller-La Buire in the 8th arrondissement. One major bonus of using Homelike is that they offer flexible check-in and check-out dates, which enables guests to change their plans up to the last minute.

One of the world’s biggest hotel booking platforms, Booking.com also list a large number of apartments available for short lets of up to a week. When we searched for short-term rentals in Lyon across several different dates, we found over 250 available properties dotted across the city, with prices starting at €323 per week for a one-bed apartment in Lyon’s  commercial 3rd arrondissement. All bookings on the platform also come with a Best Price Guarantee and there’s also a comprehensive reviews section featuring feedback from previous guests on all listed properties.

Spotahome

With almost 100 Lyon properties on their books, Spotahome have a fine selection of apartments for rent spread all the way across the city and into the suburbs. Based on our searches, monthly rates start at just €400 for a room in a shared apartment with four flatmates in the commune of Villeurbanne, around 8 kilometres east of central Lyon. It’s worth mentioning that prices on Homelike can drop by as much as 7% if the apartment is rented out for a period of 6 months or longer. On the other hand, Spotahome do add administration fees to the advertised price, so be sure to check these before booking.
