Mexico City Airport (MEX), also known as Mexico City International Airport and officially named Benito Juárez International Airport, is the main airport serving Mexico City (DF). With over 20 million passengers travelling through the airport from over 100 destinations, it’s the busiest airport in Mexico and Latin America.

At MEX Airport, car rental companies are located in both the national and international walkways of Terminal 1 and at the international arrivals area, close to Terminal 2. Thankfully, most of the major international car rental companies are represented here.

To pick out which of these deserve the top spots across three separate categories (Most Affordable, Best for Luxury and Best for Minivans), TravelMag.com has conducted extensive researches across all the agencies operating from the airport and come up with the following results.

Most Affordable: Enterprise

For cheap rental cars, Enterprise had slightly lower prices than most of its competitors. On our selected dates, prices for economy and compact cars were very similar to National and Alamo but slightly larger cars were definitely cheaper and, with an overall customer feedback score of 7.4 out of 10, Enterprise is considerably more popular than its competitors.

All rental car companies listed at RentalCars.com are trustworthy, so on your given day of travel, you’ll be safe to pick the cheapest car rental available car for your dates. However, we’d advise you to make sure the company is located at the airport terminal of MEX airport.

Top Luxury Option: Sixt

Sixt’s selection of luxury vehicles may not be as extensive as it is in other major American and European capitals, but it’s still the best of the bunch. At MEX airport, Sixt provides a few premium options for those looking to cruise the city, or head down to the Yucatan Peninsula. The most notable vehicles are the BMW 320i and the Ford Escape. National was a close second, offering various Nissan models, but Sixt’s higher ratings, especially with regards to vehicle condition and cleanliness, made it our number one choice.

Best for Minivans: Enterprise

While it doesn’t have the most expansive choice of minivans at Mex Airport, it’s hard to ignore the price of its cheapest offer; the Nissan Urvan which was under $90 per day on our sampled dates. Although it’s unlikely to win a beauty competition, this 11-seater multipurpose van has a robust engine and is renowned for its roomy interior and reliability. At the other end of the beauty scale, Enterprise also has the versatile and streamlined, Chevrolet Suburban on its books. Apart from it’s obvious good looks, this popular SUV is capable of comfortably seating 9 adults across it’s three rows of seats.
