Five of the best agriturismo near Pisa & Lucca

The Tuscan cities of Pisa and Lucca need no introduction, but the countryside surrounding them is lesser-known – meaning that farm stays come with fewer crowds and better value.

Pisa and Lucca lie 20km apart in the northwest of Tuscany; the former famous for its iconic Leaning Tower; the latter an easy-going Medieval town boasting charming piazzas and impressive city walls. All around, lush countryside spans both hilly and seaside areas, offering a diverse range of landscapes and natural attractions. The below five farm stays are perfectly suited for those seeking a peaceful retreat within reach of the city.

Agriturismo Sardi Giustiniani

Part of a long-established family business, Fattoria Sardi is run by a young couple producing wine through organic grapes and sustainable methods. Unusually for Tuscany, the core of the production is rosé wines, which benefit from the favourable influence of the Northern Tyrrhenian Sea. Reds and whites are also produced here, and the whole range can be discovered while visiting the cellar. The agriturismo offers seven apartments sleeping up to six people, located next to a swimming pool and surrounded by woods, olive trees, meadows and farmland. Agriturismo Sardi Giustiniani is 5km away from Lucca and 40km from the nearest beach. From 107 per night.
