English is the most widely spoken language in the world, with an estimated 1.5 billion speakers across the globe. You could choose to learn the lingo in the UK – its spiritual home – or across the pond in the United States, but Australia is becoming an increasingly popular place to refine the skillset. And, as Australia’s oldest, largest and most multicultural city, Sydney offers the most choice when it comes to reputable language schools. There are now dozens of language schools located across the city, but not all are equal. To help you make the right choice for your budget and ability, we’ve rounded up five of the best language schools to learn English in Sydney, taking into account location, lesson format and value for money.

There’s a good range of programmes available, from General English courses to Business English. Within each program, learners can opt for a premium, semi-intensive or intensive course. You’ll also get to explore Sydney with the guidance of an ELC teacher, through city walks, museum trips and themed outings.
