Rooms are minimal at the City Backpacker Biber Hostel, but buried in the heart of Zürich’s Old Town little time will be spent in them. The hostel has a great international atmosphere to make up for its compact and bare interiors, which are kept tidy and clean. Many shops, sights and restaurants are easily reached by foot and meals can be made onsite in one of the hostel’s three large kitchen facilities. Alongside the cosy lounge area, there is a rooftop sun terrace for views across the city. The central location provides great value but one extra cost guests should account for is the bed linen, though use of one’s own or of sleeping bags is permitted.

Situated outside of the centre of Zürich, Zürich Youth Hostel has a number of rooms for those who want to take in the tranquility of Swiss life and immerse in its culture and landscapes. Within 15 minutes both the Zürich Lake and the Rote Fabrik culture centre can be reached on foot. Guests who are looking for a city escape however should keep in mind that the centre is reached by a 20 minute tram. Set over five floors, Zurich Youth Hostel has great social spaces in which to meet fellow travellers, with an outdoor terrace, onsite bar and a lounge with tv.
