Located in the borough of Queens on Long Island, 12 miles southeast of Lower Manhattan, JFK International Airport is New York’s busiest transport hub, serving almost 60 million passengers each year. Typical driving time from Manhattan to the airport is around one hour, but bad weather and holiday traffic can make your journey lengthier. Many international airlines request that you arrive three hours in advance of our flight, so be sure to check your airline’s policy ahead of time and plan accordingly.

If you need to park your car at JFK Airport, there are a number of cheap parking options to choose from. Short-term parking is available if you’re picking up/dropping off at the airport, and long term parking is if you’re leaving your car overnight or for longer periods. To help find the best option for you and your needs, we’ve picked out three of the best online companies offering JFK Airport parking, which you can read below.
Way is an aggregator website that gathers exclusive deals on airport parking (as well as dining, movies and event tickets) and presents them all in one easy-to-navigate marketplace. All of the deals are for off-site parking lots and most of them come with additional benefits including free round trip airport shuttles and 24-hour security. Users can either book online or via the Way smartphone app. Rates are usually much cheaper than official airport parking, and you can often get particularly good deals for bookings of a week or longer. When we searched for deals at JFK, we found an impressive 148 options, starting at $6.50 per day for a parking lot 2 miles from the airport. Way offer a generous cancellation policy too, with full refunds any time before your check-in time.
There’s no doubt that while it can be expensive, for sheer convenience official airport parking is the best option for travellers needing somewhere safe to keep their car during their trip. Drivers can choose from six on-airport parking facilities at JFK, all of which are secure, well-lit and offer direct access to the airport terminals via a monorail train. There are also a handful of official off-site lots and garages located close by, the most popular being 4 miles west of the airport on Lefferts Boulevard. and Howard Beach. A free shuttle takes parkers to and from the airport. Long-term parking rates at JFK Airport start at $18 per day.
For travellers who need to catch an early morning flight or are arriving late at night, staying in a hotel near the airport before or after your trip is a real temptation. However, coughing up for a hotel stay and airport parking can start to really hit you in the pocket. That’s where Park Sleep Fly step in. They offer combined deals that include parking and a hotel stay, plus a free shuttle service to the terminal, for rates far lower than if you booked them individually. When we searched for deals for JFK Airport in August (still peak season in New York), we found three options. Among them was an overnight stay at Holiday Inn Jamaica, located 2.5 miles from the airport, which when bundled with a week’s parking would set you back $314 – a saving of $38. Even cheaper was the Sleep Inn Rockaway Boulevard, just half-a-mile from the airport, where you’ll pay just $274 for a one-night stay and seven day’s parking – saving you $24. Each of the deals we found also came with a free cancellation policy too.
