Las Vegas is certainly full of thrills, whether that’s a night on the tiles or an evening at the poker table. But there is plenty of excitement to be had just outside the fabled Nevada city – such as hiring out an all-terrain vehicle (ATV) and hitting the desert. There are places to explore in every direction, from panoramic views and incredible canyons, to Wild West ghost towns and modern desert art installations. Here are five of the best Las Vegas ATV tours.

Guided Las Vegas Desert ATV Tour

The destination is the Mojave desert on this three-hour tour, taking trails and dirt tracks through some incredible wilderness. Anyone with an eye for photography will be right at home, with incredible vistas and Instagram opportunities. The guide is on hand to point out wildlife and also pick the best spots to stop and just take it all in. It will feel like being in a Western, except with wheels and an engine as your trusty steed. Bear in mind, it’s only an hour on the ATVs but it’s one of the cheapest ways to do it if you’re on a budget. From €101.35.

(Photo: getyourguide.com)

For anyone with deeper pockets, this six-hour trip rides through the Mojave Desert to the Colorado River and into Lake Mead National Park, a watery wonderland and home to a large reservoir on the main stem of the Colorado River. An ATV is simply the best way to explore and there is a real sense of adventure with this tour, with the majestic desert landscape as a backdrop. Included in the price is lunch fit for a desert explorer – a burger made from 100% Angus beef at the Lake Mead onsite restaurant, with fresh-cut fries and a soda. It’s a great day out, but certainly not cheap. From €371.93.

Las Vegas Dunes Tour by ATV

A bargain bucket ATV tour, this trip comes in at less than $90. That doesn’t mean it’s a quick zip round the hotel car park – oh no. You’ll be transported out to the desert dunes around Vegas in a small group (no more than 10 people) where you can get to grips with the ATVs in relative safety. It’s more of a taster/ beginner trip, that is reflected in the price, but it’s a lot of fun all the same. From €89.96.

Eldorado Canyon Guided Half-Day ATV/UTV Tour

This adventure starts with a pick-up from one of three Vegas hotels and travels 45 minutes out of the city to Eldorado Canyon, a one-time Wild West mining town until the gold ran out and it went bust. It feels like being in a movie – it’s no surprise that this is a favourite of film and music video directors – with a wealth of Old West buildings, decaying cars and vintage equipment to explore on four wheels. The knowledgeable tour guide provides all the historical info as you go too. There is also a second itinerary option too which heads out into the wild, where you can take in stunning panoramic views. From €171.09.
