The cruising grounds of Miami are sheltered by the Intracoastal Waterway and provide the perfect conditions for watersports enthusiasts. The region’s waters are also home to richly diverse marine life, enabling you to spot dolphins playing in the surf and perhaps even manatees from the deck of your yacht. For angling enthusiasts, we’ve picked out five of the best fishing charters available in Miami.

Full-Day Trip

Giving you ample time on the water, this full-day trip starts with fishing at the  downtown Miami bayside before heading offshore to fish the nearby wrecks and edge. Aboard the “Sea Hawk,” a 40-foot fibreglass Trojan Sport Fish vessel, you’ll troll with live bait around 3-5 miles off the Miami coastline hunting for King Mackerels, Mahi Mahi, and Sailfish. In summer you might even have a chance to head out some 15 miles for great Mahi Mahi fishing. A fishing license, top of the line gear, and snacks are included in the charter price. Guests can keep their catch and the crew will even clean and fillet it for you. From $1,099 per group.

Available all year round, this tour offers guests the chance to embark on an after-dark fishing adventure in pursuit of the distinctive looking fish species known as swordfish. At night, swordfish rise up to warmer waters to actively look for food and feed. The organisers of this tour set up your  25-foot Blue Water centre console vessel on a drift and stagger the baits at different depths and distances from the boat. Each bait is fixed with flashing strobe light to attract the swordfish. Live bait, along with all other equipment, is included in the price and caught before the trip. From $1,497 per group.
