13 Indiana Mexican Restaurants With Family Recipes And Loyal Local Followings

Some family trees come with branches. This one comes with tacos.

Recipes tied to parents, grandparents, and hometown traditions in Mexico have found their way onto Indiana restaurant menus.

The results are anything but predictable. One kitchen may make carnitas the main event, another presses corn tortillas fresh each day, and somewhere else a two-foot burrito decides portion control is optional.

A number of these restaurants have stayed in the family for decades. Others are newer, but the recipes behind them already have plenty of history.

That gives each stop its own story without turning dinner into a history lesson.

Follow the family tree far enough, and dinner is waiting at the next branch.
