More Than One Hundred Fifty Dishes Fill This Massive Ohio Buffet With Seafood Leading The Way

I’ll have the sushi, ribs, and maybe some shrimp. What about you?

At this Ohio buffet, that answer can change fast. More than 150 items show up every day, so commitment is not exactly required.

Maybe you start with seafood. Then the hot section pulls you sideways. A few steps later, your plate looks like three different dinner plans held a meeting.

The first pass is best used for reconnaissance. Load up too early, and dessert may start making a very convincing case from across the room.

Nothing here expects your plate to make sense. It just expects you to come back hungry.

With more than 150 choices waiting, the only bad strategy is pretending one round will settle it.

The daily selection stretches well past a hundred dishes. The buffet spreads those choices across hot foods, sushi, seafood, salads, soups, fruit, desserts, and ice cream, so the first pass gives you plenty to scan before you start filling a plate.

More than 150 items fill the daily spread, covering several cuisines and nearly every part of a full meal. Chinese, American, Italian, and Japanese-style dishes share the spread with salads, soups, appetizers, fruit, desserts, and an ice cream bar.

The lineup spans hot entrées, vegetables, breads, sushi, pies, and other sweets as well.

The line moves through enough categories that your first plate can fill up long before you reach the end.

Shrimp may catch your eye, only for roast beef and barbecue ribs to change the plan a few steps later. By the time you reach the sushi, that neat first-round strategy may already be gone.

You can sample several dishes on one round and return later for anything that deserves a second helping.

One meal can shift directions several times without feeling strange. A first plate might lean Chinese, the second can move toward seafood, and the third can look suspiciously like an American comfort-food sampler.

With 150-plus choices waiting, nobody expects one plate to do all the work.

Sampling first leaves later plates open for the dishes that caught your attention on the first trip.

Seafood appears in several parts of the buffet. Shrimp, mussels, fish, and fish dumplings give that side of the spread several distinct options.

Shrimp, mussels, fish, and fish dumplings are all part of the regular lineup, giving you more than one route through the seafood side of the meal.

Those choices can sit beside sushi on one plate or take over a round of their own later. Giving seafood some breathing room also keeps the ribs, roast beef, and hot dishes from crowding everything at once.

Oriental Super Buffet is located at 445 Underwood Street, Zanesville, Ohio 43701.

Lunch and dinner run Monday through Saturday, while Sunday switches to an all-day dinner buffet.

If seafood sits at the top of your list, looking over the whole spread before loading up can save valuable plate space. Shrimp, mussels, fish, and dumplings can disappear under other choices fast once the buffet starts winning your attention.

Then another tray catches your eye and the plan changes anyway.

With more than 150 dishes nearby, another tray can change the direction of the next plate in seconds.

Seafood can easily anchor the first round without taking over the whole meal, which leaves plenty of room for a completely different second trip.

Sushi Rolls Add A Japanese-Style Stop

Sushi rolls give the buffet another direction before you even reach the heartier hot dishes.

Sushi is part of the daily Japanese-style selection and can share a meal with ribs, noodles, fried dishes, or seafood.

You can take several pieces, move on, and decide later whether the sushi deserves another visit. That makes it easy to sample without turning the first plate into an all-sushi commitment.

It also creates combinations you would rarely build from a traditional menu.

A sushi roll can share a plate with barbecue ribs, while the next round can pair vegetables with roast beef. Another trip can lean almost entirely toward seafood.

Nothing here requires you to keep the cuisines separated, so a plate that looks like several restaurants agreed to cooperate is perfectly normal.

A few sushi rolls can sit between heavier rounds of steak, shrimp, noodles, or fried dishes without taking over the entire plate.

One round can lean toward sushi while the next heads straight back to the hot line.

The sushi station adds another distinct stop before you return to the hot entrées.

Seafood may draw the first look, but the meat section carries plenty of weight.

Steak, roast beef, barbecue ribs, chicken, and pork all appear among the buffet’s regular choices alongside stir-fries and fried appetizers.

You can build a plate around roast beef and vegetables, grab ribs beside rice or noodles, or save the steak for a later trip when the seafood plate is finally out of the way.

A meal can begin with sushi and shrimp, move into roast beef, and still leave room for Chinese favorites before dessert.

Barbecue ribs, chicken, and pork add several more protein choices to the hot section.

Steak, roast beef, ribs, chicken, and pork give the hot line several substantial options beyond seafood.

It also makes mixing styles almost unavoidable. Steak and roast beef can sit only a few steps away from lo mein and fried rice, so one trip to the buffet can quickly turn into a plate that ignores every normal menu category.

A plate can mix those categories freely without needing to follow one cuisine.

That lets seafood-heavy and meat-heavy plates come back to the same table looking completely different.

Pizza, Vegetables, Soups, And Salads Widen The Choices

Not every trip to the line has to revolve around seafood or meat.

Pizza, bread, vegetables, appetizers, soups, and a full salad bar give the buffet several lighter or more familiar directions.

One person can start with soup and salad while another heads toward sushi. A younger diner can grab pizza while the rest of the table explores mussels, ribs, or roast beef.

Vegetables, soups, and salad give the table lighter choices between the heavier rounds.

The kitchen uses 100-percent vegetable oil, and fried dishes share the buffet with steamed, sauced, baked, and chilled choices.

Fried, steamed, sauced, baked, chilled, and fresh items give the buffet several different textures.

You can make one plate rich and hearty, then keep the next one much lighter. Or you can ignore balance entirely and let pizza sit beside noodles without asking permission.

Soup and salad can start the meal before ribs, sushi, seafood, or pizza take over the next round.

With more than 150 items waiting, the first plate rarely has to carry everything that caught your eye.

Pizza, soup, salad, bread, and vegetables add more choices beyond ribs, sushi, and seafood.

Dessert includes several different choices. Fresh fruit, pie, other sweets, and ice cream all occupy their own part of that final round.

Pie, fresh fruit, other sweets, and a full ice cream bar all appear after the savory sections, giving you several options depending on how much room survived the earlier rounds.

Fresh fruit, pie, and the ice cream bar give you several ways to build the final plate.

That means soup, sushi, shrimp, ribs, pizza, and pie can all happen during the same visit without requiring a stack of menus.

By dessert, the same meal may already have included seafood, sushi, ribs, pizza, soup, and vegetables.

One person at the table can stop with fruit, another can choose pie, and someone else can head straight for ice cream without needing a group decision.

Fresh fruit can finish the meal on its own, while ice cream can share the last plate with pie or another dessert.

Ice cream can share the final plate with fruit or pie if you want more than one dessert.

Sunday Turns Dinner Into An All-Day Buffet

Sunday changes the usual schedule at Oriental Super Buffet. The format shifts noticeably.

Monday through Saturday, lunch runs from late morning into midafternoon before the dinner buffet takes over. Sunday skips that split and serves the dinner buffet all day from 11 a.m. to 9:30 p.m.

The dinner buffet is available from opening on Sunday rather than beginning in midafternoon.

Buffet takeout is also available by weight, with seafood handled separately from the regular takeout mix.

Children two and under eat free, and a senior discount is available for guests over 60.

More than 150 daily items still fill the spread, including shrimp, mussels, fish dumplings, sushi, steak, roast beef, ribs, pizza, soups, salads, fruit, pie, and ice cream.

A Sunday midday visit therefore includes the same dinner-format buffet that continues through the evening.

That leaves plenty of time to revisit anything you skipped on the first pass.
