Known the world over for one thing and one thing only, rugby; Twickenham boasts the stadium at the very heart of the English game. But this genteel London suburb is well worth a visit should your interests go beyond two packs of over-sized men chucking around an egg-shaped ball. It also sits picturesquely on the Thames River, is just the other side of the bridge from swanky Richmond and has fast track train links to central London.

As far as hotels are concerned, well, no one ever said London (even suburban London) on a budget was going to be easy. Right, so we get that this might not be the most luxurious establishment you’ll ever stay in. But we at TravelMag want to stay conscious of all budgets, especially when it comes to a stay in London, when near everything seems to hover near the three figure mark. At the other end of the spectrum to Blessed House, and we know that this is supposed to be a budget hotel guide, but given the general price of London accommodation, we figure, why not spend that little bit extra and get some real luxury for your buck. The Twickenham Marriott is just that, located literally in the South Stand of Twickenham rugby stadium, for fans of the game it’s an absolute must. There’s a spa and health club onsite, plus all your standard amenities, and some rooms even look directly out onto the rugby pitch itself.
