The reward is one of the park’s largest and most sheltered beaches, with plenty of level sand for settling in. Sometimes the last stop really does finish first.

Wildlife Along The Trails
Beach 11 offers more than sand, especially if you arrive with binoculars and a little patience.
The 0.7-mile North Pier Trail follows the shoreline between Beach 11 and North Pier. Pennsylvania rates it as one of the park’s easiest hiking routes.

Swimming at Presque Isle is permitted only when a beach is open and lifeguards are on duty. Guarded locations can change, so check the entrance sign before choosing Beach 11.

Beach 11 normally has changing areas and restrooms, but its bathrooms are currently under construction. Confirming the available facilities before leaving can prevent an inconvenient surprise.

Kite Flying And Open-Air Activities
This beach has room to stretch out, but the park’s main kite action belongs farther back along the loop.
Sunset Point near Beach 10 is widely known as Kite Beach. It regularly attracts experienced flyers who know how to keep the strings from becoming modern art.
During Discover Presque Isle in 2026, the Sunset Point Kite Flyers are scheduled to appear on July 24 and 25.
Beach 11 gets its own open-air event on those dates. Sand Jam brings professional sand sculpting and a community competition directly to the beach.
Outside organized events, the broad sand leaves room for casual games when conditions and crowd levels allow.
The paved Karl Boyes Multi-Purpose National Recreation Trail also runs around the peninsula. Its 13.5-mile circuit is used by cyclists, joggers, and walkers exploring the park.
Beach 11 makes a useful stopping point during that longer trip, especially when your legs start negotiating.

The Lighthouse View Nearby
The lighthouse near the beach comes with a short walk and an important name distinction.

The 0.7-mile North Pier Trail links Beach 11 with the pier. Pennsylvania classifies the shoreline route as one of the park’s easiest hikes.
