Among the array of lavish resort hotels that can be found in the Bahamas are several offering idyllic settings and great amenities –  but won’t break the bank.

Resort hotels – especially those offering all-inclusive packages – often represent great value for money, but in a luxury destination like the Bahamas, “value” is relative. Nevertheless, the idyllic Caribbean islands also cater to those on a budget, with a limited number of affordable options available. Ordered by distance from the islands’ main international airport on Nassau, we’ve compiled a list of 10  Bahamas resorts (including some all-inclusive options) that won’t hit you too hard in the pocket.

Sandyport Beach Resort

Positioned on the Bahamas capital of Nassau, this all-inclusive resort features distinctive pastel-coloured villas surrounded by palm trees. The amenities are exceptional too, centred around the Olde Towne Marina Village where there are three lagoon-style pools, seven restaurants, a gym, a spa centre, a tennis court, convenience stores and a private beach area. Guest rooms contain a flat-screen TV and air conditioning, and the suites and studios also feature kitchen facilities. Just east of the resort is the casino and nightlife of Cable Beach. A fitness centre, bar, a shared lounge and garden, a business centre, a water park, a hot tub and an outdoor pool are among the enticing amenities at this Nassau resort. An out-island oasis of adventure located in the Berry Islands chain of the Bahamas, this boutique resort hotel is home to a wide variety of villa and cabana-style accommodations, along with a full-service marina. Also situated in Freeport, Ocean Reef boasts a well-equipped fitness centre, two outdoor pools, a restaurant and a pool bar. Coral Beach is also a 15-minute walk away Each room is air-conditioned and fitted with a flat-screen TV, coffee machine and private bathroom, and some also have a seating area. Guest can play tennis, do kayaking and boating at the resort, as well as hire bikes and cars. Located a brisk 15-minute walk from downtown Freeport on the island of Grand Bahama, this all-inclusive resort offers easy access to a nearby beach, as well as some superb amenities. Among them are a choice of four restaurants serving a variety of local and international cuisine, a beach bar serving cocktails, a tennis court, a gym, and an outdoor pool. Another Freeport resort hotel on Grand Bahama, this all-inclusive resort features a state-of-the-art spa, a year-round outdoor pool and hot tub, a hairdressers, and a children’s playground. There’s also an on-site restaurant and bar. Guest rooms come with a TV, air-conditioning and a private bathroom. Visitors with their own car can make use of the free private parking and free WiFi is also available throughout the property. A two-minute walk from the beach in Freeport on the southern end of Grand Bahama, this oceanfront resort offers an on-site spa and villas with kitchens. A flat-screen TV and sofa bed are also included in each cabana-style villas, as well as private balcony boasting views of either the beach or the courtyard. Elsewhere in the resort, there’s a poolside grill restaurant and a bar serving cocktails, while coffee lovers will flock to the on-site café for their morning fix.  Guests can work out in the fitness room, and a busy programme of daily activities include volleyball games and Zumba or aerobics class. Peace and Plenty Resort

A 20-minute walk from the beach, this 33-room resort in downtown George Town in the stunning Exumas offers a little more intimacy than the larger resorts in the Bahamas.  As well as its rooms, there are also five cottages with waterfront views. Facilities include a harbourfront outdoor pool, a sun terrace and pretty gardens, and the exclusive Peace and Plenty Beach Club on Stocking Island, just across Elizabeth Harbour, can be reached via a complimentary boat shuttle. Boat and snorkelling can be rented nearby, and bone fishing and cave diving are also available in the area. From $307 per night.

Located on the scenic Long Island, just seconds from a private talcum powder sand beach, this resort is ideally positioned for enjoying all that the area has to offer – and even offers half-day tours of the island.
