Lying within the Atlanta metropolitan area, 22 miles north of downtown Atlanta, Alpharetta is a busy, consumer-orientated suburb with five shopping districts and more than 200 dining options. With a similar profile, Roswell is an affluent district with a large population of commuters and families attracted by the city’s high level of security, 3.6 km2 of parks, and an impressive selection of public and private schools.

Alpharetta: Avis

Avis has a great selection of cars at this branch and the staff are, on the whole, a pleasure to deal with. Whether you’re on business or you are hoping to cruise around Alpharetta, there are SUVs, luxury cars, compact vehicles, full-size cars and even minivans to choose from. The most basic model, a Ford Focus, kicks off at about $25 per day while a premium SUV like a Chev-rolet Suburban costs $87 per day. Opening hours: Monday-Friday 8am – 4pm: Saturday 9am – 2pm: Sunday, closed.

Alpharetta: Hertz

Customer service often attracts polarising reviews, but in the main, the Hertz branch on Alpharetta Highway receives far more positive than negative reviews. Hertz may not have the cheapest rentals but they do tend to have a better selection of cars than other agencies, especially in the premium car bracket and this branch in no exception to that rule. It’s worth noting that there are two Hertz branches in Alpharetta, however, the branch under the Marriott hotel has a far smaller selection of cars than this branch. Opening hours: Monday – Friday, 7.30am – 6pm; Saturday 9am – 12pm; Sunday, closed.

Roswell: Budget

Budget, part of the Avis and Payless chain of car rentals compa-nies, offer a great choice of cheap car hire, regularly delivering good value for money. Among the compact and most af-fordable cars in their fleet, you’ll find the Toyota Yari, the Kia Soul and the Ford Fiesta, all of which cost between $22-25 per day on our sample dates. Renting cars is relatively inexpen-sive in this part of the world, so if you’ve ever dreamt of cruising highways in bigger wheels, this is definitely the area to do it in.
