The best German language schools in Berlin

With over 3.5 million residents, Berlin is Germany’s largest city and is home to a wide number of prestigious universities, colleges, and research institutions. The city is also the country’s political, economic and cultural heart, making it the perfect location for students from across the globe to come and study German, while immersing themselves in all that Berlin has to offer.

With such a large student population, it is little surprise that Berlin has a vast selection of language schools – each offering a range of different courses. If you’d like to go native and learn German in one of the country’s most vibrant cities, we’ve picked out three of the best language schools across Berlin.

Sprach Salon

Nestled in Berlin’s Neukölln district, Sprachsalon is a small, private language school that provides an effective, relaxed and rewarding learning environment thanks to its team of dedicated, upbeat teachers. Courses are taught at all levels (from A1 to C2) and range from intensive courses, evening courses and weekend courses, and if you want to learn German fast you can also opt for one-to-one tuition. Die Neue Schule

Founded in 1984, Berlin is one of the biggest and best known language schools in Berlin. It is situated in the district of Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf and offers a wide variety of German courses – in groups or one-on-one. You can choose between various intensive courses, weekly evening courses or a private course put together just for you. Courses run simultaneously and year round in levels A1 through C2 of the Common European framework. Thirty-one comfortable and bright classrooms, a media room and a large library right beside the German language school help to create a productive learning atmosphere. All of the school’s German teachers are native German speakers and are carefully chosen according to their academic background and language abilities. The school also puts on a regilar programmeof cultural activities around the city, and can help you find accommodation in Berlin during your studies, including with host families and in private apartments.

Anda Sprachschule

A cozy school with two central locations in Berlin Friedrichshain and Berlin Prenzlauer Berg, Anda language school runs German courses taught by qualified and experienced native speakers. Students can choose from a wide range of courses including intensive courses, evening classes, private lessons and bespoke courses for companies. Classes are kept to between 4 and 10 students, ensuring that everyone receive a high level of attention. The school also runs a language exchange partner programme, helping find a German partner who you can practice your language skills with outside of class hours. If you already have some German language skills, you can take a free test to ascertain your level, and the school also offers a free trial lesson for anyone interested. Every month they also organise free cultural activities for students, including visits to museums and meet-ups in a local tapas bar. Finally, the school can help you find accommodation in Berlin for the duration of your studies.
