Many people visit Punta Cana, with 48km white sand coastline and coconut palms that could sell a million postcards, to do nothing. It’s an all-inclusive heaven with the chance to, if you can remove yourself from your deckchair, go fishing or diving if the mood takes you. But another activity that the resort town in the easternmost region of the Dominican Republic is famous for is its world-class golf resorts. Dotted among the lush greenery and neighbouring beaches are pristine courses with nearby resorts – perfect whether you are improving your handicap or just enjoying a game in beautiful tropical surroundings. Here are five of the best golf resorts in Punta Cana.

Tortuga Bay Punta Cana Resort & Club

Tortuga Bay is the ultimate in luxury when it comes to Punta Cana golf resorts. This, matched with award-winning restaurants and impeccable service, make this highly recommended destination even without the golfing. For just over €4,000 you get a Junior Suite with Ocean View plus one round at Corales Golf Club and two  rounds at La Cana Golf Club with shared cart and unlimited range balls. The hotel also picks you up VIP style from the airport and all meals at a choice of restaurants is included.

The Iberostar may be very much a budget option for a golfing holiday but that doesn’t mean it’s not a great resort. This is still a five-star hotel overlooking the white sandy beach of Playa Bávaro that spans nine miles, with the accommodation arranged like a village nestled among tropical greenery. The resort has its own 18-hole course, designed by PB Dye and one round is included, plus one round at Cocotal Golf & Country Club with unlimited range balls, plus one round at Punta Espada Golf Club with transportation, shared cart, and unlimited range balls. The board is all-inclusive which means that, unlike other golf resorts in the area, unlimited drinks are also included.

Guests, including A-list celebs, love the accommodation for its amazing range of activities, whether that’s the Equestrian Centre, Shooting Course or just the eight top class restaurants. But many people come to the resort for a golf getaway, with access to three Pete Dye golf courses including Teeth of the Dog , the top ranked course in the Caribbean.
